Everyone Has a Sam: Meeting the Inner Critic and Re-Writing the Rules
Now available! Written & Illustrated by Rosi Greenberg
"You're not good enough." "You don't belong." "You're too big/small/talkative/silent/fat/skinny/tall/short/etc.etc.etc." Know that voice?
There's a critical voice inside all of us that tells us we don't measure up. That's our inner critic, or 'systemically-imposed imposter syndrome.' That part of us defines what 'good' is and tries to keep us from being 'bad,' at all costs. For many of us, it speaks to us almost constantly, keeping us in line and striving for perfection. Living in the shadow of that voice takes a lot of psychic energy.
That's energy that we could be using instead to live into our highest creativity, our purpose in life, our joy. It's energy that we could be using to live, love, connect, and change the world. Doesn't that sound so much better than killing ourselves for perfection?
I lead people to identify this critical voice and learn about it, so we can see that we are actually more powerful than we think. We 'put it in its place' at our side as an ally, not as a bully running the show. And, since these messages came from the culture we live in, when we shift these parts of ourselves we create powerful shifts in the culture around us. Imagine living into a world where everyone knows they're just right as they are, where we can learn without shame, and where we point the finger at bad systems, rather than at 'bad' selves.
Join me in creating that world.
